Aioi R&D Lab – Oxford and Mind Foundry, a business and capital partner of Aioi R&D Lab – Oxford, jointly proposed a challenge about using quantum technology for accurate total risk prediction across an investment and insurance portfolio in the event of a natural disaster. They additionally provided mentoring to the hackathon team by providing business insights and technical guidance on quantum computing.

On the final day, the teams presented the results of their work and were evaluated by a panel of judges made up of renowned quantum researchers. The judgement was made based on technical soundness, novelty, scalability, ethics and presentation skills. KL Divergence, the team mentored by Aioi R&D Lab – Oxford and Mind Foundry, won the top prize.

Through this event, Aioi R&D Lab – Oxford were able to explore a use-case for quantum technologies that are highly relevant to the insurance industry and demonstrate that it has significant potential.
