Aioi Nissay Dowa Introduces Aioi R&D Lab's Work at the UK-JP Business Roundtable Attended by Both Prime Ministers

Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Keisuke Niiro) attended the UK-JP Business Roundtable held at 10 Downing Street on 14 June 2026. The roundtable was held with invited business leaders from both Japan and the United Kingdom, in the presence of Prime Minister Takaichi of Japan and Prime Minister Starmer of the United Kingdom, under the theme of "economic security." As Japan and the United Kingdom advance cooperation in strategic fields including AI, Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance explained how, through Aioi R&D Lab – Oxford, it has built partnerships with UK startups and is working collaboratively to address social challenges.

Their agreements will lead to tens of thousands of new jobs and a more than £18 billion boost to the British economy, including big investments in offshore wind, infrastructure development, and life sciences. It will also include a new technology partnership that will accelerate cooperation on cutting-edge tech, including AI, semiconductors, and quantum computing. The UK and Japan already collaborate on many successful business ventures – Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, a Japanese insurance provider, has invested £50 million in AI projects in the UK since 2020. And its workforce at its R&D Lab in Oxford is expected to double by the end of this year!
